Second murder case opened after KZN mob justice attack
Updated | By Lucky Khanyile
Police in northern KZN are investigating two cases of murder after a vigilante killing in Hlabisa over the weekend.
It's understood there was a stick-fighting contest in the area with one of the fights later turning fatal.
The police's Thulani Zwane says it's alleged the loser of one of the fights went to his home to get firearm - returning and opening fire on his competitor who later died in hospital.
He says the members of the community then attacked the alleged shooter.
"Angry community members that were at the scene grabbed the suspect and allegedly assaulted him to death. There are no arrests made regarding the second murder case," he said.
Police recovered an unlicensed 9mm forearm with four live rounds from the scene which will be handed in for ballistics tests.
