A reward in exchange for information on the deadly incident has ballooned to more than R250 000 after DA MP, Dean Macpherson pledged R5000 on social medial.

Thousands of concerned residents in the province responded positively - saying they too want to help. Sixteen-year-old Amina Haffejee and her seven-year-old brother, Abdur Raheem lost their lives two days after Christmas.

They had been heading towards Stanger with their parents, when the boulder, believed to have been thrown from an overhead bridge in Tongaat, crashed through their car windshield.

These community members hope the reward money encourages those with information to come forward.

Meanwhile, the police's Nqobile Gwala says no arrests have been made yet.

"We are investigating two counts of murder. We are also appealing to anyone who might have information about the suspect to contact local police," she said.
