Search for suspects behind discovered explosives cache
Updated | By Nondumiso Dube
Police are trying to find those behind an explosives stockpile found in Mooiriver.
Members of the Pietermaritzburg K-9 Unit found the commercial explosives in an abandoned house in Bruntville yesterday during an intelligence-driven operation.
They say the explosives are viper boosters used in mining. Police suspect they may have been kept to bomb ATMs or for use in cash-in-transit heists.
SAPS national spokesperson Brigadier Vish Naidoo says no arrests have been made.
"We are appealing to anyone with any information that can lead to the persons connected to the explosives to contact SAPS on 086 00 10111", he said.
"Information can also be communicated via the My SAPS App, an application which can be downloaded on any i-Phone and Android", Naidoo said.
"All information will be treated with the strictest confidence and callers may remain anonymous", he said.
