Search for Pietermaritzburg CIT robbers
There was an active manhunt on Thursday for a gang that robbed a cash-in-transit van in Pietermaritzburg.
KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda says the robbers pounced on the vehicle on Wednesday, injuring one of the occupants in the process.
"Police in KwaZulu-Natal are on the lookout for about 12 suspects who robbed a cash delivery vehicle of an undisclosed of money along Murray Road on Wednesday, 16 July 2025.

"One security guard sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was later conveyed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. The suspects also reportedly robbed [the guards of] two firearms and ammunition before fleeing from the scene. "
Another cash-in-transit heist was reported on the R34 in Vryheid in northern KwaZulu-Natal on Saturday.
