Search continues for missing victims of #KZNstorm
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The KZN Co-operative Governance Department says searches for people who've been missing since Monday night's downpour are ongoing.
"We still continue with the searches for missing people and the recovery is still going on as well as all the mop-up operations even though their homes were destroyed. At least they are able to continue going on about their normal day-to-day work. Even though, their homes have been destroyed - they have been able to continue with their normal day-to-day work."
Cogta has confirmed 70 deaths - and fears this figure could climb even further - after mudslides and flooding collapsed homes, a church and other structures over the past week.
Scores more are recovering from injuries - while over one thousand people have been left without homes.
The department's Lennox Mabaso says disaster response teams are still out.
