SA's daily Covid-19 cases highest in months

South Africa's registered 5 782 new coronavirus cases in a single day.
It's the highest daily rise in fresh infections in several months and represents a 12.7 percent positivity rate.
The Health Ministry says it will be monitoring this spike and has again appealed for total compliance with Covid health guidelines.
The NICD says the seven-day moving average of case incidence has reached 30% of the previous peak in the Northern Cape, Free State, the North West and most recently Gauteng.

It's added these four provinces have already entered the third wave of Covid-19 infections.
One hundred and ten more people diagnosed with the virus have died - bringing the pandemic death toll to 56 711.
Meanwhile, more than 1.1 million people have received the coronavirus vaccine so far.
Over 637 000 were given the Pfizer shot under the national rollout.
