SANDF won’t reopen probe into Collins Khosa death
Updated | By Jacaranda fm
The South African National Defence Force (SANDF) says it will not be reopening the investigation into the death of Alexandra resident Collins Khosa.
The military confirmed this in a statement released on Friday.
The comments from the department come after Defence Minister Nosiviwe Mapisa-Nqakula’s statement before the Joint Standing Committee on Defence on Tuesday that the investigation was not finalised.
“While addressing the Joint Standing Committee on Defence, the minister stated that, in her opinion, there is no finalised Board of Inquiry investigation report as she was made to understand that the investigation had been referred back by the Chief of the South African National Defence Force and might be reopened for further investigation,” says SANDF spokesperson Siphiwe Dlamini.

“This understanding has turned out not to be correct as the SANDF will not be reopening the Board of Inquiry for further investigations.”
An internal inquiry by the SANDF found that implicated soldiers in the death of Khosa cannot be held responsible.
This means that the report into those findings still stands. A criminal probe into the incident remains ongoing.
