SA lockdown: Here's how public transport will be affected
The transport minister says public transport services will run for four hours in the morning and for another fours hours later in the day during the 21-day lockdown.
Minibus taxis, e-hailing services and busses will only be allowed to operate within these hours - to transport essential services employees to and from work, and enable people to go buy food or go to the doctor, among other necessary activities.
Fikile Mbalula was speaking at a Justice, Crime Prevention and Security Cluster briefing in Pretoria on Wednesday evening, where he provided details on how the transport sector will be affected by the lockdown.
"Minibus taxis will be allowed to transport essential services workers and those allowed to make the necessary permitted movements. Transport movements in this regard will be allowed to operate from 5am to 9am and again in the afternoon from 16h00 to 20h00."

Announcing the lockdown earlier this week, President Cyril Ramaphosa said health workers, emergency services personnel, police and traffic officers, some banking sector employees and those in the maintenance of power, water and telecommunications would be among those exempt from the lockdown.
