SA, Lesotho investigate Lesotho military camps in SA
Updated | By Tsakane Mhlongo
South African and Lesotho intelligence teams are working together to investigate claims of Lesotho military camps operating inside South Africa.
Police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says the issue came up during Saturday's national crime meeting led by National Police Commissioner Fannie Masemola.
The allegations were first reported by IOL earlier this week, and are said to come from authorities in Lesotho, specifically the country's police chief Borotho Matsoso.
Mathe says both countries have intensified their efforts to get to the bottom of the claims.

"The Hawks' Crimes Against The State (CATS) unit has also been roped in to investigate", Mathe explains.
"Various searches have been undertaken by CATS at various identified farms, and no such evidence has been found to date.
"Masemola has also reached out to Matsoso where the two commissioners discussed his allegations.
"Both commissioners agreed that both law enforcement agencies' intelligence structures are on the ground to investigate the existence of such camps."
