The Elephant Ignite Expedition, comprising of 13 members, travelled through 10 African countries to raise awareness of the ongoing elephant poaching crisis.

Along the way, 20 000 educational booklets were distributed to disadvantaged schools and communities while the all-women team also visited 37 organisations involved in conserving African wildlife.

The trip that kicked off on August 9, Women's Day, in Durban culminated at the Nairobi Nature Reserve on November 16.

Geyser says the inaugural project set high standards for the next one in 2017.
