The association's KZN chairperson, Zweli Zulu has been speaking to Newswatch following the death of a Pietermaritzburg primary school principal.

Nokuthula Mangwanyana' s body was found in her car earlier this week. She'd been stabbed to death.

Last week, the principal of Imbilane High School in Ulundi was shot dead at his home.

Two months ago, the deputy Principal of a school in Nqutu was gunned down in full view of his class.

Zulu says although solving the issue requires a multi-disciplinary approach, he believes communities in which these incidents happen hold the key to solving the crimes.

"The criminals are coming from the communities and nowhere else. The community is more important to me because if you had to install cameras where would you start? Which school would you choose? Where is the budget for that? So it is a social issue more than anything," he said.
