Two suspected rhino poachers are appearing in court today after they were found in possession of rhino horn in northern KwaZulu-Natal.
The pair were intercepted yesterday in Ntambanana by a national task team set up to combat rhino poaching.
Officers received a tipped-off after noticing a suspicious looking car in the area.
Police spokesperson, Brigadier Vishnu Naidoo, says the couple is from Mpumalanga province.
"The driver, a 44-year-old woman, and a 33-year-old male were arrested after they were found in possession of a rhino horn as well as parts of a hunting rifle and several rounds of ammunition in their vehicle. Both of these suspects are currently in police custody. They are expected to appear in the Ngwelezane Magistrates Court," he said.
