Residents urged to be cautious following KZN weather alert

Wind speeds are starting to pick up in KwaZulu-Natal, while residents and motorists are being asked to exercise caution as adverse weather conditions begin to sweep through the province.

The SA Weather Service warns that severe thunderstorms are expected in the KZN interior this evening.

A westerly wind is expected along the KZN coast, affecting Durban and spreading towards Richards Bay.

This evening, thunder showers are forecast over parts of Harry Gwala, uMgungundlovu, Uthukela, Umvoti extending to Nkandla, Zululand and Umzinyathi. 

Weather seers says hail is also expected in parts of the province. 

Meanwhile, disaster teams at the eThekwini Municipality - are on high alert - and further urge residents to heed to official warnings. 

KZN motorists are urged to drive carefully and residents to exercise care should they be outdoors.
