DA billboard targeting city officials removed

eThekwini Municipality says a Democratic Alliance billboard targeting senior city officials has been removed after its attorneys demanded that the billboard be taken down.
The eThekwini Municipality says it welcomes the removal of a billboard erected by the Democratic Alliance.
On Monday, the DA put up a billboard overlooking the busy N2 in Riverhorse Valley.
It features the faces of eThekwini mayor Cyril Xaba, City manager Musa Mbhele and the City’s executive director for water and sanitation, Siyanda Mwelase, alongside the message: “You can stop the water tanker mafia.”
Yesterday, the ANC Chief Whip in Parliament, Mdumiseni Ntuli, told News Watch that the party will be taking action against the DA election campaign billboard in Durban.
The municipality says the billboard has been removed after its attorneys issued the DA with a letter demanding its removal.
It says the billboard tarnished the reputation and dignity of individuals who carry public duty to serve residents of eThekwini without fear or favor.
The municipality says it remains committed to transparency and accountability. It has encouraged residents to raise concern about service delivery and governance through proper and lawful channels.
