Ramaphosa urges KZN learners to complete matric
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
President Cyril Ramaphosa is urging northern KwaZulu-Natal communities to ensure children remain in school until the end of Grade 12.
Ramaphosa made the comment in Dannhauser - near Newcastle - during a joint handover ceremony yesterday.
The President officially handed over three schools as part of an Education Department initiative to do away with inadequate facilities - including mud structures.
The schools in Dannhauser, Utrecht and Vryheid have now been fitted with the latest learning technology.
Ramaphosa said he was disappointed to hear that many pupils in the area drop out of school.
"I am so pleased that we are launching schools in the deep rural areas of KZN. By doing this, we are spreading the seed of real effective education. Please as parents, insist that children must finish Grade 12," he said.
