The final report from the commission of inquiry into state capture will be on President Cyril Ramaphosa's desk on 1 January.
This is according to Minister in the Presidency Mondli Gungubele.
He made the announcement during a post-cabinet briefing on Thursday.
"The Commission of Inquiry into allegations of State Capture, Corruption and Fraud in the Public Sector, including Organs of State, is scheduled to submit its final report to President Cyril Ramaphosa on Saturday, 1 January 2022.
"Cabinet anticipates that in addition to exposing the perpetrators of corruption, this report will also provide us with proposals to strengthen our systems to prevent corruption."
The commission, chaired by Deputy Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, began hearing evidence in August 2018.
Over the three years, hundreds of witnesses have testified on alleged corruption within government and state owned entities and individuals said to have had influence over senior government officials and politicians.
The commission has asked the court for five extensions, with the last one granted until the 31st of December for it to complate its work.
It's estimated to have cost the country in the region of R1 billion.
