Ramaphosa denies role in Phala Phala report as calls for accountability grow
Cyril Ramaphosa has denied any involvement in IPID’s declassified report into the multi-million-rand theft at his Phala Phala farm in Limpopo. The report recommends disciplinary action against Major General Wally Rhoode and others over alleged irregularities in handling the 2020 incident.

IPID says police procedures were bypassed in an off-the-books recovery operation.
Ramaphosa has declined to comment in detail on the matter saying the process should be allowed to unfold.
" The IPID report is what you will have read. So that is a process, as I've always said, processes must play themselves out, and all these matters are being handled by the right institutions, and we must allow those institutions to handle those matters."
Call for Ramphosa's impeachment
The African Transformation Movement has called for Ramaphosa's impeachment.

The party has argued the report raises serious concerns of executive misconduct, constitutional breaches, and possible criminal wrongdoing.
At the same time, the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse has called for full transparency on the matter.
CEO Wayne Duvenage was speaking to Newzroom Afrika.
" I do think there's a lot of questions that the president seems to be evading. We shouldn't have this lack of transparency on matters of interest. There's this judgment coming out from the Constitutional Court towards the end of the month. It'll be very interesting to see what that judgment is."
Phala Phala under review
Meanwhile, the National Prosecuting Authority says the Phala Phala matter is under review at the head office of its Specialised Commercial Crimes Unit.
The authority previously faced criticism after declining to prosecute Cyril Ramaphosa over the alleged cover-up of the 2020 theft at his Limpopo farm.
In 2024, the NPA said there was no reasonable prospect of a successful prosecution, despite a parliamentary inquiry finding that the President had a case to answer.
