Rajbansi family mourns 'inseparable' couple killed in N3 horror crash

The Rajbansi family is mourning the loss of two of their loved ones who died in this week’s horror crash near the Marianhill Toll Plaza.

Pradhil Thakur-Rajbansi, the son of Minority Front party leader and KZN legislature member Shameen Thakur-Rajbansi, and his fiancée were killed on the N3.

 

He and Priyanka Nunkumar were on their way to Durban to attend a party event on Tuesday.

 

Rajbansi's attorney Anesh Maharaj says the family's devastated.

"The family is not taking it too well. These two inseparable people were part of everybody's lives not just the family but in society which we lost in such tragic circumstances. It's difficult for Mrs Rajbansi and the rest of the family to handle."

 

He says they are hopeful justice will be served.

 

"This is the worst pain the family has to go through, Mrs Rajbansi has the utmost faith in the law and hopes that the following investigation will be conducted and it was a tragic incident. And we've received the best of support from both the police and medical department of KZN."

 

The couple's funeral will take place in Pietermaritzburg tomorrow.

 

42-year-old Vuso Tega, the driver who was allegedly behind the wheel of the runaway truck that caused the crash, is due back in the Pinetown Magistrate's Court tomorrow for bail.
