A R50 000 reward is on offer for anyone who has information on the suspects who killed a German tourist near the Kruger National Park.
The Kruger Lowveld Chamber of Business and Tourism is offering a monetary reward of R50 000 for information leading to the identification and arrest of the perpetrators.
Widespread condemnation followed the brutal and senseless killing of the German tourist on Monday.
“This act is senseless and barbaric; it cannot happen when our tourism industry is beginning to re-open,” said Mpumalanga MEC for Finance, Economic Development and Tourism, Prince Mkhatshwa.
Four German tourists were traveling in a minibus along the Numbi road to Mdluli Safari Lodge, when they were accosted by three armed men.
The suspects instructed the tourists to unlock the doors of their vehicle.
The driver reportedly locked the doors to their car which led to one of the suspects firing several shots through the window.
The suspects then sped off, without taking anything from the tourists.
The man was declared dead at the scene.
The German embassy in Pretoria confirmed that officials are in touch with local authorities about the "tragic incident".
Minister of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment Barbara Creecy has urged police to leave no stone unturned in solving the murder.
“I appeal to the Mpumalanga police to work tirelessly to bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to book.”
Minister of Tourism Lindiwe Sisulu conveyed her condolences and urged police to find and charge those responsible.
Police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
