The latest East Coast Radio Fugitive hunt has ended with one family planning to use the winnings for more than just a celebration.

Jacques “JP” Jacobs spent most of Thursday chasing clues from Pinetown to Hillcrest, Waterfall and Springfield before finally making his way to Florida Road, where he tracked down the East Coast Radio Fugitive.

R40k prize to help ease December costs

Jacobs says he and his partner plan to use some of their R40 000 prize money to free up their family’s finances over December and settle some debts, which would help them avoid unnecessary expenses over the festive season.

He says the goal is to give the family a brief break from the pressures of everyday life.

“I first thought something terrible was about to happen. It was so random.

“[I] bumped into him and then he jumps back in the car and they're gone. And then, another gentleman gave me the card.

“At that point I was at a loss for words. I didn't know what to think, what to do, how to act. It was all just one blur.”

JP says the reality of winning R40 000 has not quite sunk in yet.

On the hunt

“It was 100% worth it, even at the point when I had to stop to refill fuel in the car to carry on driving.

“There's some things that we just kind of drive towards. I do believe I would have carried on looking. I would have called it a day if I didn't find them there, and I would have waited for the next,” he added.

The East Coast Radio Fugitive is still out there, so keep your eyes and ears open for more clues.

Remember to have fun and keep it safe.
