Puppy unharmed after hours-long drain rescue
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
KZN paramedics say a puppy, found stuck in a drain pipe near a Phoenix home, is in a good condition following the rescue operation.
An 8-week-old Labrador puppy slipped into the pipe head first and was stuck about three meters inside of it in Shastri Park.
Netcare 911's Shawn Herbst says the medics used specialise equipment to free the pup.
"Our rapid specialised extrication unit was called out to assist an 8-week-old Labrador puppy that had removed a plastic drain cover and slipped into the pipe head first. The owner not knowing what to do called Netcare911 and we sent a team to assess the situation. After many hours of digging, the adventurous pup was freed by the rescue technician," Herbst said.
Herbst says the puppy was found to be slightly dehydrated but otherwise in good health.
