Public sector unions to decide on strike after failed wage talks

Public sector unions will start deciding this week whether to down tools after they failed to reach a wage agreement with government.
The Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA) has issued a no-resolution certificate.
A dispute was declared after government's revised offer of a 1.5% increase was rejected.
Unions want 7%.

Government, which had initially put 0% on the table, says it can’t afford the workers’ demands.
Negotiations have been ongoing since March.
The Public Servants Association's KZN manager is Claude Naicker said: "During the course of this week and next week we balloting our members whether they are in support of a full-blown strike action and this will affect all government services that are non-essential services where we will be calling on our members to actually part take in the ballot process to go on industrial action.
"I think members are very frustrated with the stance of the employer. Now the 1.5% that they are offering is something that public servants already enjoy in terms of a performance pay progression."
