Police investigate after kids' party robbed

Events at the Sandton Fire Station have been cancelled while an investigation into a robbery at the venue over the weekend continues.
Johannesburg emergency services say this comes after armed robbers targeted a children's party at the fire station at the weekend.
"It happened just after 15:00 on Saturday," spokesperson Nana Radebe said.
Radebe says all events booked at the venue have been cancelled “until we’re aware of the situation”. The venue is reportedly booked up for months.
Eyewitness News earlier reported about 35 children and 40 adults were held up at the station and robbed of their belongings.
Radebe said a guard was assaulted during the incident.
"We called the Bramley police station. They are investigating the matter now," Radebe said.
She has denied reports there were no firefighters in sight when the incident happened saying when the station commander had heard what happened, he went to the scene and called the police.
One parent told EWN there were no firefighters at the station at the time of the attack on Saturday and he had twice called the emergency hotline 10111, but no-one answered.
