Plans for pupils after KZN school shooting
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The KwaZulu-Natal Education Department is hopeful teaching will return to normal at the Qantayi High School, near Port Dunford on the north coast next week.
This after a lengthy meeting between officials and teachers at the school yesterday.
Last month, a Grade 12 pupil shot another child in class before turning the gun on himself.
Some teachers have refused to return to their posts until they feel it is safe to do so.
The department's Muzi Mahlambi says they have plans in place to make sure that the matriculants keep up with the syllabus.
"The matriculants are going to be taken to Inkosi Eskhaleni Secondary School to join other matriculants. We are [working with] those children everyday and it's the circuit's mandate, so that they don't miss out in terms of curriculum coverage," he said.
