PICS: It's snowing in KZN

With just 39 days to go until Christmas, parts of KZN have been transformed into a Winter Wonderland.

Motorist, Nelson Pillay told Newswatch that the snow-covered route to Cedarville was a sight to behold.

Pillay had left Kokstad in southern KZN at 6am this morning.

"I haven't seen snow like this in many years. The area is covered with a blanket of snow - the trees, cars. It's like a white Christmas. The roads are not too bad but alongside the roads there's a lot of snow. The temperature feels close to zero degrees here ," he says.

Snow has been seen in the southern Drakensberg, areas near Kokstad and Cedarville Pass.

Snow Report South Africa's Rob Ansell has been in the Drakenberg.

"I'm out on the Drakensberg Gardens at the moment and it's snowing quite heavily. It's not settling just yet. It's been snowing on and off since 11pm last night but it was mixed with some rain. It did not settle at all,"  Ansell says.

The SA Weather Service says heavy rain that could lead to flooding is expected south of the province. Strong winds are also expected along the coast.
