Nzimande faces charges of corruption and misconduct, and has apparently received a salary of around R8 million during his six-year suspension.

The commission told Parliament last year that more than R31 million was paid to six suspended magistrates.

MPs have since called for swift investigations.

" This is a matter that we really struggle to proceed with. It's really on the side of the commission because you'll see that on the 10th of June, 2025, the presiding officer requested to be released due to ill health.

"And what we are now engaging with is a process where we are replacing the presiding officer. We have already started engagement to see whether the teams can't agree that this matter should not start from scratch."
