The father and mother of Leland Shoemake found a hand written note in their home in Georgia after their son passed away in an Atlanta children's hospital.

On Facebook, Leland's mother Amber explains he contracted a deadly amoebic infection, Balamuthia mandrillaris.

"The one thing he loved most was playing in the dirt. I never imagined that would be the thing that would take him from me. He was my world. He made me a mother," she posted.

She shared the letter on the page, Prayers for Leland with the caption: 'We have no idea when he wrote it but you can tell he was always a special child."
