Over R1 Million raised for charity in Midmar Mile event
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Swimmers taking part in this year's edition of the Midmar Mile north of Pietermaritzburg have raised over R1,5 million for charities so far.
Beneficiaries include the Pink-Drive, CHOC (Childhood Cancer foundation SA) and the The Princess Charlene of Monaco Foundation SA.
Event Organiser Wayne Riddins says they have just over 12-000 swimmers taking part.
"A lot of them (swimmers) go in to do the 8 mile and 16 mile events. So the swimmers doing this type of thing and giving something back to charity is really amazing," he said.
"It adds something special to the event," Riddins said.
