Over 600 people admitted in one day to hospitals for Covid-19

A total of a further 611 people have been admitted to health facilities across South Africa on Sunday, for Covid-19 related treatment.
The latest statistics by the National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) show that a total of 9 344 people are currently in hospital infected with the virus.
Furthermore, 13 155 new Covid-19 cases have been identified in South Africa in just 24 hours, translating to a positivity rate of 23.7%.

The majority of new cases came from Gauteng (66%), followed by the Western Cape (9%).
The North West accounted for 6% of new infections; KwaZulu-Natal and Mpumalanga each accounted for 4%; the Eastern Cape, Free State and Limpopo each accounted for 3% and the Northern Cape accounted for 2%.
A further 112 Covid-19 related deaths have been reported, bringing the total number of fatalities to 58 702.
