During a presentation to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts on Thursday night – De Ruyter said of these incidents – many of them had already been referred for preliminary investigations.

He says they've rolled out lifestyle audits at the parastatal.

"Some of the staff members have been identified as warranting further investigations by the SIU, and we have seven of those still under investigation. Six of the employees resigned in the face of the investigations by the SIU."

He says they're also recovering money that Eskom irregularly paid out to Gupta-linked company - Trillian - as well as a claim for contractual penalties from Tegeta's business rescue practitioners.

"We are recovering R600 million from Trillian, and those liquidation proceedings are underway, and we have been joined by SARS in this matter.

"As far as Tageta, we regrettably aware of the fact that Tageta has other creditors and we, therefore, have been informed that it is unlikely that we will be able to reclaim the full R5 billion."
