According to CNN, a correctional services officer at the Kgosi Mampuru II prison says on Pistorius' first day in prison, he said he didn't want to talk to anyone.

The facility's Violet Ngobeni said the athlete struggled to adapt to spending 23 hours a day a cell. He has since changed, Ngobeni says.

Pistorius has served ten months of his five-year sentence for a culpable homicide conviction.

He was placed in the prison's hospital wing - with his own cell and separate toilet.

The track star has reportedly had a new bath and bed installed after he voiced his complaints. Gym equipment were also replaced.

According to reports, Pistorius was worried that the prison food might be poisoned. He preferred purchasing food from the prison store.

Earlier in the week, the Justice Ministry announced Pistorius will no longer be released had has his parole temporarily suspended.

The Ministry said the Paralympian will no longer be released as initially stated as the decision by the Correctional Services Parole Board to release the athlete on probation is being reviewed.
