Opposition unhappy with election of Ndobe to KZN Legislature
Updated | By Sandile Zikhali
The new deputy speaker in the KwaZulu-Natal legislature has received an underwhelming response from opposition parties.
They're disappointed over the election of Harry Gwala Mayor, Mluleki Ndobe.
Ntobeko Boyce was elected Speaker meanwhile Premier-elect Sihle Zikalala is set to be sworn in on Monday.
He says fighting crime in the province is among his top priorities.
In March, the NPA dropped the charges against Ndobe - citing a lack of evidence linking him to the murder of ANC Youth League leader Sindiso Magaqa.

The IFP's Velenkosini Hlabisi says Ndobe had promised to name and shame those who were behind his arrest.
"He said he knows those people. And he said he will name and shame them because they used the state apparatus to achieve the political goals against him. We are saying he must keep to his words."
The DA's Zwakele Mncwango feels the ruling party should have done the right thing.
"They can't stop him from being a member of the Legislature - but giving him a higher position, is a major concern," he said.
