Operation Hydrate on standby as some Chatsworth taps still run dry

Community organisation Operation Hydrate in Chatsworth, South of Durban says they are on standby as some areas are still without water.

Co-ordinator Bilal Khan says residents who are still experiencing water outages can collect litres of water outside Masha Crescent. 

The operation commenced yesterday in Chatsworth and surrounding areas, distributing over 50 000 litres of water to homes. 

Water has been restored in some of the areas while some parts remain without water. He says as an active member in the community, the received desperate cries from residents asking for assistance.

"We created a central platform for Chatsworth. We started from the Moorton area where we assisted the families in need of water. We got about 46 streets, over that we have been assisting 37. Water has returned to certain parts of Chatsworth, Savannah Park, including Welbedacht."
