Ongoing battle to supply water to Durban south residents
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
eThekwini Municipality says it's in an ongoing battle with efficient water supply to parts of Durban south.
Residents of Northedene, Chatsworth, Shallcross, Klaarwater and surrounds have been left frustrated by an erratic water supply and have demanded answers.
In a statement, the city says due to the April floods, two aqueducts from Nagle Dam to the Durban Heights Water Treatment Plant are still out of operation.
Reconstruction of Aqueduct 1 is expected to be completed by December.

Officials say besides the flood damage to the Nagle Dam pipelines, the water treatment plant is not stable enough to keep the level at the Northdene Reservoir at a suitable bar to provide constant pressure to the Northdene Reservoir.
It says despite other contingency measures, the Water Board has decided to run with four pumps instead of three on certain days of the week.
