One killed, 15 hurt in Durban CBD crash
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
One person has been killed while 15 others have been hurt following a collision between a taxi and a bakkie on the corner of Point Road and Rochester Road in the Durban CBD yesterday afternoon.
Details leading up to the crash are still not clear but it is believed one of the vehicles failed to stop. Rescue Care's Garrith Jamieson says there was nothing they could do to save the person who died.
"One person was found to have sustained major injuries and unfortunately passed away before paramedics had arrived. He was declared 'deceased' on the scene," he said.
"A further 15 people from the taxi had sustained various injuries ranging from minor to serious and were stabilized on scene before being taken through to various Durban hospital for the further care they needed," Jamieson said.
"At this stage the exact cause of the collision is unknown, however, members of the SAPS were on attendance and will be investigating further," he said.
