Obama has the best response to teen clock-maker
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
President Barack Obama has publicly shown support for a 14-year-old student who was arrested for building a homemade clock.
Texas student Ahmed Mohamed - who aspires to be an engineer - built a digital clock which teachers mistook for a hoax bomb.
Teachers alerted authorities who then arrested the youngster. He was also suspended from school until today.
US President Obama and Mark Zuckerberg took to social media to show support for Mohamed, saying it was a genius project.
While speaking to the media, the 14-year-old has encouraged other teenagers to pursue their ambitions.
Other social media users took to Twitter to share support using the hashtag, #standforAhmed.
Here's what Obama has had to say.
Cool clock, Ahmed. Want to bring it to the White House? We should inspire more kids like you to like science. It's what makes America great.

Absolutely tragic. When I was his age, I took everything apart too and tried to make things. http://t.co/73Y8XQwlqM #IStandWithAhmed

We work hard to get kids excited about #STEM and then they get arrested for making a clock. Crazy! #standwithahmed Keep it up.
