NUMSA spokesperson Phakamile Hlubi-Majola says the state-owned entity is failing South Africans.

"We are not going to give up on the work of mobilising workers on this issue. We are going to continue to put pressure on South African Airways and it's management and the board, because the members of that board are not doing the right thing in the interest of the airline or in the interest of South African as a whole," she said.

Meanwhile, long-distance bus drivers employed by bus company Autopax are picking up their keys again.

They have ended a two-week long work stoppage after their union met with the Transport Minister, who assured NUMSA that there'll be more security for drivers.

Bus drivers alleged they were being attacked by taxi operators on the KZN, Eastern Cape and Limpopo routes  who claimed they were encroaching on their territory.

The violence resulted in the death of one person last month. Police are probing cases of murder and attempted murder.
