Alutha Pasile appeared in the High Court in East London on Thursday where he was sentenced to 25 years behind bars.

“The accused has shown that he has completed disregard for the rights of others. A far cry from his professed love for the deceased, as even in death he had no respect for the deceased by dumping her body which was in a suitcase cut into pieces, on a street corner,” said judge Nomathamsanqa Bheshe.

Bheshe recounted the trauma that Mtebeni’s father had to go through to identify his dismembered daughter’s body.

“We also got to learn of the devastation and trauma that has been brought by the passing of Nosicelo, the trauma brought about by her father having to identify his daughter’s body at the time when it was in pieces.

"Thankfully the staff at the pathological laboratory managed to reconstruct the body.

“Going back to the question of remorse, it baffles me why this remorse did not kick in during the three days when he went through all the attempts to avoid detection.”

Pasile was handed 25 years for murder and 10 years for defeating the ends of justice.

The sentences will run concurrently.
