Non-complying taxpayers could be penalised as deadline reached
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
SARS says those who missed yesterday's deadline to file your income tax return - need to do it as soon as possible.
The taxman is however introducing penalties for latecomers.
The revenue service says fines of between R250 and R15 000 could be issued for late submissions.
"If you didn't make the deadline, we are encouraging you - to continue filing your returns. We will be operating normal business hours," SARS's Janine Mqulwana said.

Mqulwana says they have seen a spike in the number of returns recently - with as many as 150 000 daily.
"5.6-million returns were received for the entire tax season last year - in 2017. This year, filing patterns were quite on par and similar with the trends we saw last year," she said.
