NEWS JUST IN: Jacob Zuma will face charges in court - NPA
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Former president Jacob Zuma will be appearing in court - facing charges of corruption, fraud, and money laundering.
The National Prosecuting Authority head, Shaun Abrahams made the announcement this afternoon.
Abrahams says there is reasonable prospects of success in the case against the former president.
The Supreme Court of Appeal ruled last year that the decision taken in 2009 to drop the 18 charges of fraud, corruption, money laundering and racketeering against the former president was irrational.
The case is linked to Zuma's business relations with his former financial advisor, Shabir Shaik.
Shaik was sentenced to an effective 15 years behind bars in 2005 but released on medical parole in 2009.
Zuma is expected to go on trial in the KZN High Court.
Listen to the announcement made by NDPP, Shaun Abrahams below.
