Newborn baby boy thrown from window in Verulam

officials say the newborn baby boy who was thrown out of a window, allegedly by
his mother, is recovering well in hospital.
The 3.9kg boy plunged three metres and landed in a bush near a business premises in Verulam, north of Durban.

Police have confirmed the mother allegedly gave birth at the workplace on Saturday and dumped the baby minutes later.
The infant was discovered after someone heard him crying. He was immediately rushed to hospital.

The woman was due in court today.
Provincial Health spokesperson, Noluthando Nkosi says the baby will remain in hospital for a few more days.
“The baby is currently in good health, but he is obviously being kept for observation as well as the pending completion of processes involving law enforcement authorities and the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development,” she said.
