NEHAWU threatens to embark on national strike

The National Education Health and Allied Workers' Union (NEHAWU) says security systems at public health care facilities must be reviewed.
This after a patient was shot and killed by two armed suspects at Durban's Clairwood Hospital on Friday last week.
Health workers union has threatened to embark on a strike national if the situation does not improve.

KZN spokesperson, Ayanda Zulu says some workers operate in constant fear for their lives.
"This is one of the issues that the department have been neglecting, and the department also does not have long-lasting solutions in addressing security concern."

"Most of the hospitals there are no systems that are put in place to make sure that you cannot enter with a gun or whatever weapon that can be of danger to workers and the patients," she said.
