NCC recalls 920 Jeep Grand Cherokee WL vehicles over faulty control bolt
Owners are urged to contact authorised Jeep dealerships for free inspections and repairs or replacements.
The National Consumer Commission has announced a recall of 920 Jeep Grand Cherokee WL vehicles.
They were sold between 2021 and 2023 and have been recalled over a possible safety defect.
The issue involves a faulty upper control arm pinch bolt that may break, leading to a loss of control and increasing the risk of a crash.
What should Jeep owners do?
“We urge owners of affected vehicles to immediately contact their authorised Jeep dealerships for inspections and necessary repair or replacement.
“Remember, this will be carried at no cost to you as a consumer” said Phetho Ntaba, the NCC’s spokesperson.
Bridgestone tyre recall
The recall follows the Bridgestone tyre recall issued for Ford and Volkswagen vehicles earlier this month.
The recall affected Bridgestone Duravis R660 Eco tyres specifically for the tyre used on certain Ford and Volkswagen vehicles sold in the country.
It applies to the 215/65R16C 109/107T tyres fitted to Ford Transit Custom and Tourneo Custom models from 2024 to 2025.
Volkswagen vehicles sold and distributed from 22 October 2023, and 8 November 2025 were fitted with the same tyres.

According to the manufacturer, the tyres may be more vulnerable to cuts and partial penetrations when used in rough or wet conditions.
The commission says over time, this can allow moisture to enter the tyre structure, leading to possible corrosion of the tyre belt.
Ntaba urged drivers who are affected by the recall to take their vehicles to the manufacturer.
“Owners of the vehicles may actually notice a tyre bulge, a tread deformation, or additional tread cuts which may become apparent or actually this can lead to the vehicle's ability or response to your input, whether you are braking, you are accelerating, and this may lead to or may increase the risk of an accident.”
