N2 crash: Durban family appeals for witnesses
Updated | By Anelisa Kubheka
The family of a 22-year-old motorist who remains in ICU, following an accident on the N2 in Durban nearly two weeks ago are hoping witnesses to the crash will come forward and help them with the details.
Mohamed Afzar Valimamade says his sister, Mustaqeemah - who only started speaking two days ago - has told them she recalls nothing about the accident on the 29th of August between 2pm and 2:30pm.
Valimamade says Mustaqeemah's car overturned on the island just before the Spaghetti Junction, leaving her with head and spine injuries.
"None of us were at the scene, we have no idea what actually happened. We've contacted the police but they have not really assisted us.
"They indicating that we need the person who was involved in the accident to give the report.
The doctors have said that she's very lucky she has survived. Today is the tenth day she is in ICU - there's been a big improvement," he said.
Valimamade says a case has still not been opened as his sister's vehicle was towed before the scene could be investigated.
