Motorists urged to be cautious over busy weekend
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
Traffic authorities are urging road users to behave responsibly this weekend.
Traffic volumes in and out of the coast picked up on Friday as the school holidays began. Many South Africans have capitalised on Tuesday's Heritage Day public holiday by turning the weekend into a long one.
Some have travelled to various destinations for mini-breaks. The N3 Toll Concession's spokesperson Con Roux says no major accidents have been reported on the route so far.
He says traffic volumes are expected to rise again on Tuesday.
"We are expecting Saturday, Sunday and Monday to be quiet," Roux said.
"Then at the end of what would have been a long weekend for some, on Tuesday, we are expecting heavy traffic volumes from that afternoon," he said.
