The HSRC was commissioned by the Independent Electoral Commission to conduct a survey on the election.

Some 12 000 people were interviewed at 300 voting stations across the country.

The organisation’s Benjamin Roberts said the sample was large, as per international standards.

"An overwhelming majority of sampled voters feel that the election procedures were free. Similarly, 94% of the voters are of the opinion that the election procedures were fair.”

The report also indicates that of the voters interviewed, 96% were happy with the quality of service provided by the IEC staff and 93% felt safe at their voting stations.

The report comes amid many complaints and reports on election day of late ballot boxes, hostile IEC officials, and voters management device glitches.
