The call for government to seriously consider bringing back the death penalty for those who rape and kill women and children was made at the launch of the Ubuntu Initiative today.

Prominent personalities - including soccer legend, Jomo Sono and actor, Sello Maake KaNcube say men need to rediscover the spirit of Ubuntu and treat women with dignity.

King Goodwill Zwelithini's son Nhlanganiso Zulu is also part of the campaign and says women are the backbone of families and the country and must be protected.

"I'm addressing those people who abuse women and children - we are watching them. Wherever they are, they must stop this. This is a barbaric act - women are supposed to be treated with love and peace. We are saying hands off to these women and children," he said.

Maake KaNcube used a poem to drive the message home; listen below.
