More than 1 000 new Covid-19 cases in SA

South Africa has recorded 1 464 new Covid-19 infections in the last 24 hours.
According to the latest statistics released by Health Minister Zweli Mkhize on Thursday evening, this brings the cumulative number cases for South Africa to 1 533 961.
A further 90 more people have also died of coronavirus related complications.
The latest fatalities recorded over the past 24 hours pushed the Country’s death toll to 51, 724.
The report by Mkhize shows that Limpopo has recorded the highest of 33, Kwa-Zulu Natal 14,Western Cape 13,Gauteng 12,Free State 10,Mpumalanga 5, and Eastern Cape 3.

North West and Northern Cape recorded zero fatalities.
“We convey our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased," said Mkhize.
So far, over 9 556 404 people have been tested for Covid-19, with 31 550 tests completed since the last report.
On the vaccine front, 177 275 health care workers have been vaccinated.
The recovery rate stands at 95%.
