Mixed reaction to Vodacom's decision to slash data prices
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Vodacom customers in Durban have cautiously welcomed the news that the network provider's going to be slashing data prices.

The company's decision to drop them by at least 30% from next month, follows a Competition Commission report which found that Vodacom and MTN data customers are being overcharged.
The cost decrease will apply to the network provider's monthly bundles.

Nhlanhla Mpungose says he needs data to search for jobs.
"I think it's a step in the right direction. We are paying more than any other countries for data and airtime."
"I think a lot more needs to be done in terms of data because when you look at it, in most countries where they pay extremely less data, wherever they go there's wifi."
Gerard Venter is waiting to see what happens.
"People who are on a contract like myself, who get one and a half gigs a month are going to pay the same price or they are going to give us more data? I will believe it when I see it."
