Miguel Louw killer to hear fate next year

The man convicted of the kidnapping and murder of Miguel Louw will only hear his fate next year.
On Monday the Durban High Court found Mohamed Ebrahim guilty of killing the 10-year-old Sydenham boy two years ago.
Sentencing proceedings were meant to get underway this morning.
But defence advocate, Jay Naidoo asked for a postponement so he could obtain a report from Social Development on the personal circumstances of the accused.
The court heard Naidoo has been representing Ebrahim pro-bono. He said he believed the social workers’ report should be considered in the sentencing process.

Senior prosecutor, Calvin Singh told the court the State had no objection to the request as it was in the interest of justice.
Singh asked to hand in three victim impact statements from Miguel’s mother, grandmother and sister.
The sentencing proceeding will resume in mid-February.
